Storys: Free Wyse Monkeys has a new look, and a new web master!
In 2005 I started this site with the idea of sharing some of the tips and tricks I was discovering working as a system engineer for Wyse. I have always had, and still have, a passion for sever based computing. Not only does it make business sense but is also my way of contributing to make IT greener. Freewysemonkeys was an attempt to help everyone enjoy the simplicity of Thin Clients by making the set up a bit easier based on my experiences. (and a great excuse to spend hours in my lab building crazy little tools and packages for the site )
ConfGen has been working hard over at www.technicalhelp.de and produced a big upgrade to the already great Configuration Generator. Download the new ConfGen here
It's been a while since we looked at this utility up close and there have been a number of major additions. ConfGen 4.5 is no longer just for WTOS and Linux, the latest version now includes support for Windows CE. If you have any of these Wyse operating systems ConfGen has some new features for you. Read on...
Attached to this article is a beta of the USB imaging system that can support all S, V, VL and VLE class devices including Windows CE based OS. I need your help to test!
Christmas holidays are on the way and what better way to avoid eating too much and pretending you like the in-laws than to lock yourself in the lab with some beta testing. If you can help out please click the "read more" link below.
Thanks, -TT

Storys: Reset to Factory Defaults or Unlock a Wyse Terminal
Executive Brief
The article looks at how to reset a Wyse terminal to factory defaults. There have been many different types of hardware platforms that Wyse have produced over the years ranging from generic x86 platforms to Wyse proprietary designs. This range of designs has also seen a number of different tools to manage them, any administrator new to Wyse devices should be aware of these tools and how to use them.
Storys: V-Class L - Join the dual screen revolution
Executive Brief
Wyse have introduced new line of thin clients to replace the ageing 1125, 3150, 5150 and 9150 line. This new hardware is cased in the "V" style chassis however it represents a very new platform with a number of new software and hardware enhancements. Not the least of these is the ability to display duel video. In this article we look and the new line and the ins and outs of Dual Video on different operating systems and how this relates to the RDP and ICA client. As we find out there is a bit to learn to get the most out of these units.
For those who have always found thin clients lacking in the ability to display quality video and multi-media it also marks the start of a new strategie by vendors to provide solutions.

To create and maintain this site and the Configuration Generator is a lot of work. Nevertheless I want to remain ConfGen and everything else to be free.
