Hi ConfGen,
Thanks for your continued help.
I'm from a mostly 1st/2nd line support background, so some of these bits are a learning curve for me, it's all been setup by someone else, and now i'm trying, badly it seems, to get to grips with it.
In DHCP, in the scope options, I've got the following options names:
'161 Wyse FTP Server' with a value of '192.168.0.5'
and
'162 Wyse DHCP Path' with a value of '\'
Does this look about right?
192.168.0.5 is the server WDM is installed on incedently.
Thanks again. |

That fine if you are using WTOS or Linux device and configure them using a wnos.ini/wlx.ini
This has nothing to do with PXE.
Do you have any other PXE server running in your network, like Altiris, Landesk, SMS, etc...

| With have neoware thin clients, but as far as I'm aware they don't use PXE, so as far as I'm aware there's nothing else that requires PXE on our network, so assume we have no other PXE servers. |

In that case I would do a network trace while a Wyse client boots up. This way you should see in the trace where this IP comes from.

Can I just confirm how long you'd expect it to take to copy an image from one of the laptops to the software repository via WDM? As I say, it seems to happen very quicikly, so I'm not convinced that part of the process is working right either.

It will take between 3 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the image and the imaging process used.

Well mine appears to take a 1gb image to the software repository in under 30 seconds, which I didn't think seemed right, yet it is sitting there in the SR non the less. Do you think this could relate to me original problem of not being able to push an image to a laptop via WDM?
Thanks

Hi, I hope it's ok to carry on this thread on a slightly different tangent?
I've finally managed to get my laptops to pull and push images at boot, which I'm very happy with, one slight problem I have is, when a laptop has been updated with the master image I’ve created, it set the time and date on the laptop to that of when the image was created.
This causes me a slight problem that I'm hoping to be able to support all these laptops, including pushing this latest image, remotely. Non of the laptops have an internet connection as such, they can only connect to the internet once connected to Citrix, and as such the Neutron software and built in Windows time sync process are unable to find their servers to do the update.
Are you able to shed any light on another way of solving this problem? Is there a way of getting the laptops to sync with the server that runs WDM on startup? Or something similar?
Many thanks for your continued help. If i need to set this query up on a new thread, please do say.

Would be great to put this on a new thread next time.
You can install a timeserver on your WDM server and configure the units to sync with your WDM server.

Thanks for the reply, installing a timeserver on one of our servers isn't something I have any experience of, but thanks for the pointer, I'll endevour to look into a bit more, and if I need and more help will start a new thread . |
