I'm using a verbatim store n' go usb drive, 2GB, formatted with the usb_format.exe tool, but I can't get the device to boot off the thumb drive.
According to the doc, the device should boot automatically from the thumb drive, but it doesn't. I see the PXE screen, then it boots into XP.
If I hit P during the yellow screen I can get to the boot menu, but I don't see an option for USB drive. I see USB FDD, USB ZIP and USB CDROM. If I pick any of those three I get a message that reads PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT with a flashing cursor underneath. I can hit as many keys as I like and nothing happens, if I do nothing, nothing happens. I end up having to pull the thumb drive and cycling power.
I've gone into the BIOS, but don't see the a straight-up USB option, just the three I mentioned before.
I saw that only the Lexar Firefly Jumpdrive had been tested. I don't have one of those handy to try.
Does anyone know if the Verbatim drives are unsuitable for this purpose?

I got it to boot, but I'm still having issues.
To get it to boot, I had to change the hard disk priority list in the bios. I moved the Verbatim up and the internal down.
I then got this: For VL and VL class you may receive a "error reading C:" message. Enter the BIOS setup “Integrated Peripherals” -> “Onchip USB Controller” -> “Onboard EHC” and setting it to DISABLED.
Now I'm having a different issue, for a different post...
