To lock down the users desktop you have to use a centrally saved configuration file. My Configuration Generator found in the Download section can assist you with the creation.
In this configuration file called wnos.ini you can adjust all possible parameters to configure the client. Much more than you can configure locally.
First you have create a folder structure like ftproot/wnos on your FTP server.
Create a wnos.ini file and copy it to that folder. To lock down the client you only need one parameter called "Privilege". Valid values for that parameter are None, Low and High, whereas High is the default setting.
Enter the parameter "Privilege=None" in your wnos.ini and save it in the above folder.
Last step is to configure the client to read that file. Open the network configuration and go to Servers-Fileserver. Enter the IP address of your FTP server here without any path. WTOS is adding the "wnos" folder automatically to each fileserver/path entry done.
Now reboot your client.

Again you do need the central configuration file wnos.ini here.
The needed parameter is called "Desktop=image.jpg".
The image .jpg file has to be copied under ftproot/wnos/bitmap.

To upgrade the firmware of a WTOS based unit we are using the same folder structure already explained in Q1.
Copy the firmware file (UTC_b512 for WT1200LE, TWA_WNOS for WT1125, RCA_wnos for S10, VL10_wnos for V10L and C10_wnos for C10LE).
Additionally you need a new parameter in your wnos.ini. This is called "autoload=1" or "autoload=2". The first will allow up- and downgrades whereas the latter only allows upgrades. It is recommended to allow only upgrades. To bypass any login windows you should also add "SignOn=no" in a new line of your wnos.ini.

This is not possible with WTOS as all components are integrated in the OS. The whole OS is between 512KB (WT1200LE) and 7.5 MB (V10L) in size only. Therefore a firmware upgrade needs only a couple of seconds and with each firmware upgrade you get the latest ICA available from Wyse. Building WTOS in a modular way does not make any sense.
